We can produce all icon designs for you. However, if you are designing your app icon in-house we do ask that the icon you send us it with a minimum of 1024x1024 pixels. If you are producing your own icon we will be happy to generate all of the size variations required by iOS.
A helpful icon photoshop template is http://appicontemplate.com - handy for previewing how your icon will look at various sizes. Create your icons without adding the rounded corners - iOS will trim your icon automatically, if you add your own it may well not match up correctly.
Since iOS 7 we recommend avoiding gloss or shine effects on your icons and also any skeuomorphic 3D styling.
You can upload a maximum of five screenshots - five for the iPhone and five for the iPad. You only need to provide the largest display size and Apple will automatically produce the other sizes for you. Ocasta will be happy to produce these under your guidance.
These do no necessarily have to be straight screenshots from the app - they can include extra text and imagery for illustrative purposes. However, people like to see what the app looks like before they install it so we advise not creating imagery that doesn’t reflect the app UI at all.
Particular attention should be paid to the first screenshot as this is shown on the on-device App Store search results. For example, in the follow app the first screenshot helps promote the app in search results:
Screenshots can only be added or changed before the app goes into review by Apple - and when an app update is being re-submitted for review. Here are the required dimensions, if you're supply us screenshots direct from the device these will already be the correct dimensions and we will remove the status bar for you:
2048 x 2732 pixels for portrait
2732 x 2048 pixels for landscape
1242 x 2208 pixels for portrait
2208 x 1242 pixels for landscape
iPhone Xs Max
1242 x 2688 pixels for portrait
2688 x 1242 pixels for landscape
If you'd like to provide unique screenshots for all sizes then you can view the specifications here.
The name of your app can be different on the device and the App Store itself. On the device you will want a short name, but on the App Store you can have something longer.
The advantage of a longer name on the App Store is that it is one of the ways your app can be discovered on the search index. We can advise you on what is and isn't acceptable for this.
For example: App name (displayed under your icon): Harveys App Store name (displayed when browsing the store): Harveys Beer Finder
As well as the app name - you can use keywords to help people find your app via search. You are limited to 100 characters in total. You do not need to use spaces but can separate words with a comma.
Ocasta can advise on keyword strategy and competitor analysis. Do not attempt to use trademarked keywords or words that are other app names or company names as it might result in your app being removed from the App Store.
Any keywords in your company name or App Store app name will automatically be included - so you can save some characters by omitting these.
You have a 4000 character limit for copy here. Try to be concise and not too wordy. Bullet pointed features are easily readable and allow people to digest key information quickly.
Bear in mind the copy here is not included in the search index so it will not help app discoverability. The description can be updated at any time.
You have the option of supplying your own ‘End User License Agreement’ should you require to do so. However, by default you are protected under Apples default EULA which is available at http://www.apple.com/legal/itunes/appstore/dev/stdeula
Multiple language versions of all the above App Store content can be supplied at the submission or re-submission of the app. Ocasta can help with the translation process should you require it.
Promotional text lets you inform your App Store visitors of any current app features without requiring an updated submission. This text will appear above your description on the App Store for customers with devices running iOS 11 or later.
Reset iOS Summary Rating
You can reset your app’s summary rating for all territories when you release a new version. Keep in mind that once this version is released, you won’t be able to restore the old rating. Your app’s existing customer reviews will still appear on the App Store.
App preview specifications
You can supply a between 15 and 30 second long video to show off your app. View the Apple documentation for techincal specs.
